High-fashion sneaker collaborations are nothing new these days, but sneakerheads are definitely still getting used to the elongated timeline between fashion week previews and release dates. Now, 10 months after showing off two new pairs of New Balance 509 collabs at Paris Fashion Week in January of this year, Comme des Garçons Homme just dropped its latest New Balance collection at Dover Street Market with no warning.
The Comme des Garçons Homme x New Balance 509 collection features two pairs, one in white and another in grey, both with intricate material upgrades and CDG branding throughout. The white pair mixes subtly different shades of white, off-white, and cream throughout the upper, with perforated leather on the side panels, a stark white midsole with a contrasting black outsole, and a CDG HOMME logo on the tongue.
Keeping the materials and logos consistent, the grey colorway mingles varying shades of grey across the upper, mixing steel grey on the toe and side panel with stormy dark grey on the heel and pale grey stabilization panels between it all. The lace panel and tongue get a hit of metallic silver, and the sockliner switches things up with a deep brown mesh.
