The Central Saint Martins x Dr. Martens 1460 Boot Collection Releases February 2024
Published
As the alma mater to legendary designers, Central Saint Martins continues to mold the future of fashion. With its long-standing reputation for nurturing design talent, it's no surprise that the school is partnering with Dr. Martens, a brand that has also served as a canvas for creative minds. This highly anticipated collaboration, which brings together nine MA students from Central Saint Martins, is set to unveil their reimagination of the iconic 1460 boot.
The nine graduates will go head-to-head to bring their artistic flair to the 1460 boot in a thrilling fusion of heritage and innovation. For instance, Yanya Cheng envisions the leather boot with a breathable tule lining and ribboned straps encircling the boot. Alvaro Martinez takes an avant-garde approach, offering a boot-shaped dress with dual-sided toe boxes and a weathered appearance. Atli Alfredsson taps into a fluid menswear language, complementing distressed and gradient leather with boxy suiting that traverses gender norms. Other designers bring their histories and sartorial signatures into play, from Dhruv Bandil’s whimsical Indian-inspired silhouettes to Maximilian Raynor's cascading, theatrical menswear. The competition culminates with the awarding of £5,000 to four contestants, significantly boosting their budding careers.
The Central Saint Martins x Dr. Martens is set to release in February 2024 through Dr. Martens. The retail price is yet to be announced.
