Every April 15, Major League Baseball honors the enduring legacy of Jackie Robinson — the man who broke the sport’s color barrier and changed American history. Wearing No. 42 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Robinson didn’t just make his mark on the field with his electric base running and Rookie of the Year season — he left a permanent imprint on civil rights and sports culture alike.
To celebrate Jackie Robinson Day, Nike is paying tribute to his legacy with a collection of throwback jerseys and shirts for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. This includes two shirts and two jerseys, each featuring his jersey number on the back and the two cities on the chest.
Alongside the clothing, a Nike Cortez TXT featuring Robinson's number 42 will be released. The pair also adds baseball stitching to the heel tab and a custom graphic on the insole displaying all 30 MLB teams' depiction of the number 42.
