CC Sabathia gets MLB Hall of Fame-Inspired Air Jordan 3 Retro PEs
Published
Major League Baseball inducted five new members into the Hall of Fame over the weekend, including the legendary CC Sabathia. As one of the greatest pitchers of his generation and of all time, Sabathia earned himself six All-Star appearances, a World Series ring with the Yankees in 2009, and a Cy Young award in 2007 as a member of the Cleveland Indians (now the Guardians). To celebrate his Hall of Fame induction, Jordan Brand gifted CC a special pair of Air Jordan 3 Retros.
Sabathia first signed with Jordan Brand back in 2007. At the time, Jordan had little presence in the MLB. He helped popularize wearing Air Jordan Retro baseball cleats in the league. His sneaker of choice was the Air Jordan 11. Multiple highlight moments in his career came while wearing the AJ 11, including in ‘09, when he wore the Concord colorway in the Yankees' World Series win. Jordan even gave Sabathia a slew of Air Jordan 11 PEs throughout the 2010s.
As for this special pair of Air Jordan 3s made for CC’s Hall of Fame induction, the pair comes primarily clad in white with golden accents on the elephant print overlays on the mudguard and heel. Mismatched red and blue accents are split between the right and left pair, respectively, with the shade found on the Nike Air branding on the heel tab, the lining of the tongue, and on the heel of the sole unit. Golden Jumpman branding, custom embroidered jersey numbers on the tongue, and custom insole graphics round out the sneaker.
CC Sabathia’s Air Jordan 3 Hall of Fame PE will remain exclusive to the man himself. Check below for detailed images of the sneaker, and download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
