Amsterdam is all about chilling out. Sure, there are the coffee shops filled with hash and gas, but considering stateside legalization, that’s less of a draw than relaxing rides down the Amstel and an urban city center focused on slow walks and meandering bike rides. For Amsterdam-based fashion label Camiel Fortgens, the brand’s first Asics collab collection is a childlike take on the classic Gel-Cumulus 16.
Velcro Vibes on the Gel-Cumulus 16
The Camiel Fortgens x Asics Collection features four pairs of the Gel-Cumulus 16 in two remixed styles: one with a full set of Velcro straps across the tongue like a toddler’s shoe, and a second with one Velcro strap across the top and an open tongue panel like a Mary Jane. Both silhouettes arrive in two colorways each, one in white and the other in brown.

The brown leather pairs are the star of the shoe, bringing a dark brown wide mesh base with multi-tonal brown leather overlays, including a nearly red shade on the side panel logo and straps. The white pairs are clean, with silver support accents and black leather details on the logo and Velcro straps.
