Before becoming the de facto face of the WNBA, Caitlin Clark was already emerging as the frontrunner when she was playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her collegiate career garnered massive media attention, especially when the media-fueled beef between her and Angel Reese surfaced. But now that she’s established in the W, she’s graduated from wearing Kobe PEs to having her own signature sneaker. That doesn’t mean her love for the Hawkeyes stopped, as Clark just gifted her alma mater a Hawkeyes-themed Caitlin 1 PE.
Nike Caitlin 1 Iowa Hawkeyes PE Details
The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team took to Instagram to share a video of the squad receiving their pairs of the Nike Caitlin 1, showcasing the elated reactions to receiving the special sneaker from the former Hawkeyes superstar. As for the sneaker itself, Clark and Nike used a black mesh base that is contrasted by Iowa yellow on the Opticast nodes, which feature repeating “C” and “22” logos on the lateral and medial sides, respectively.
On the Swoosh, the stacked logo features two yellow and two white finishes. More black details land on the lace set and tongue, with the Hawkeyes logo embedded into the tongue. Inside, the sneaker continues the dark aesthetic with black coating the sockliner. Finishing the sneaker is the black midsole and outsole, containing the Cushlon ST2 foam and Zoom Turbo tooling.
Is the Nike Caitlin 1 Iowa Hawkeyes PE Releasing?
Unfortunately, the Nike Caitlin 1 Iowa Hawkeyes PE is not getting a public release, and instead will be reserved for the Hawkeyes basketball squad.
