Cynthia Lu, the founder of fashion imprint Cactus Plant Flea Market, has grown her brand to heights unimaginable as she has worked with hip hops biggest acts, like Ye, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti, and collaborated with Nike on a range of unorthodox sneakers like the redesigned Dunk Low "Overgrown." Going back to 2020, CPFM's work with Travis Scott included helping him launch a line of merch in collaboration with fast food giant McDonald’s, but now the two are working together sans Cactus Jack as Mickey D’s took to Instagram to announce a special meal that will include collectible figures designed by CPFM.
For McDonald's, this collaboration is a part of a much bigger plan in their marketing as various celebrities have had special meals launch for limited times with most releasing collaborative apparel pieces in tandem with the meals. First teased by A$AP Bari on Instagram, a park bench featuring Ronald McDonald and CPFMs de facto mascot, Cactus Buddy!, appeared in NYC with the official announcement going down shortly after. Unlike other collaborations, the special meal just includes new packaging with design motifs typically seen from CPFM and contains a collectible figure of redesigned McDonald’s characters, like Grimace and the Hamburglar, that come with double-eye features.
On top of this, collaborative apparel will be available in the form of a hoodie and t-shirt, both of which come with cobranded details and the iconic puff print featured on many CPFM pieces. If you do order a special boxed meal in the McDonald’s App, you will be entered for a chance to win exclusive merch, including the aforementioned clothing and a Grimace Chair.
The CPFM x McDonald’s Special Box and collectible figures will begin to hit select McDonald’s locations across the US beginning October 3rd, 2022 with apparel launching on the same day via cpfmmcdonalds.com at 11 AM ET.
