Most brands would like to keep their iconic logos unchanged, rarely allowing the designs to be repurposed into something else unless you’re considered a special collaborator. Dating back to 2013, the San Fran-based Blends has been blessed with the opportunity to work with Vans and often change their iconic jazz stripes into bones. Now in 2022, the two are back at it once again on the upcoming Blends x Vans Magic Tape Pack, working on three colorways of the OG Style 36 LX.
Coming in black, marshmallow, and olive, the silhouette keeps its usual canvas and suede construction. Around the toe, eyestays, and heel sits a premium short-haired suede that takes on a grey shade on the "Marshmallow" pair and olive green on the "Olive" pair. Tonal laces weave in and out of the eyelets just above the canvas tongue, complementing the highlight of this collaboration, the customizable bones replacing the usual Vans jazz stripes. Included in each package are three differently colored velcro-backed bones, also commonly referred to as “Magic Tape” in Japan. On the tonal insole, co-branding between each label is present. Rounding out the look is the white midsole and outsole combo.
The Blends x Vans OG Style 36 LX Magic Tape Pack has already seen the release of two out of the three colorways with the Olive pair set to release on July 2nd, 2022 through Blends, Vans, and select retailers online and in-store.
