Mizuno’s Wave Rider series dates back nearly 20 years and spans dozens of silhouettes, the latest being the Wave Rider Beta. Shortly after introducing the brand-new model, Mizuno is already looking for collaborators to bring to the table as it has tapped Japanese imprint BEAMS for a co-branded take on the new sneaker.
Marking the fifth link-up between the two, the BEAMS x Mizuno Wave Rider Beta follows suit with BEAMS’ neutral color palette as the model features tan and white shades throughout its design. Across the upper, we see a hemp underlay allowing the tan suede panels around the mudguard, eyestays, midfoot, and heel shine. Mizuno’s dragon-like logo gets placed near the midfoot while the upper forgoes any overt nods to BEAMS’ presence on the model. Tonal-colored laces match the underlays and rest below the brandless window atop the tan suede tongue. Underfoot sits a brownish-tan foam midsole and outsole that matches the same shade utilized on the sockliner.
The BEAMS x Mizuno Wave Rider Beta will be released on April 1st, 2023, through BEAMS and Mizuno online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at ¥24,200 (approx $180 USD).
