After collaborating on a 2002R Pack earlier this year, AURALEE and New Balance are set to reconnect this season for the AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 Collection. Arriving in two tonal colorways, Ryota Iwai has applied his signature aesthetic to the Charlotte Lee-designed silhouette, and it might just be one of the Japanese label's best sneakers yet.
Inspired by 1970s racing cars, the XC-72 is as unique as they come. Working on top of a smooth and slick leather base, buttery suede panels wrap around the upper for an extra premium look and feel. For this collab, AURALEE has worked on two iterations. The "Blue" colorway is dipped in a soft all-blue hue, while the "Brown" pair is offered in an earthy palette with a cream sockliner. Both XC-72s feature "New Balance" branding on the tongues, while the Boston sportswear giant's signature "N" adorns the sides in an oversized fashion. Of course, you can't talk about this model without mentioning the aggressively designed midsole unit that pays homage to retro models like the XC15 and the 375.
The AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 Blue and AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 Brown are both set to release on October 13th, 2022 in men's sizes with retail set at $155. Expected to be available at AURALEE, New Balance, and a select retailers online and in-store, this is a collab that you definitely don't want to miss.
