One of the kings of collaborations, the Japanese-based sneaker boutique atmos is again teaming up with Asics on the Gel-Lyte III silhouette. In the past, the duo has worked to bring “Alley Cats” to life and triple collaborated with both Sean Wotherspoon and Sneaker Freaker (separately) on the iconic model. Now we’re seeing a return to a theme we witnessed earlier in the year with a map-covered upper, however, this iteration brings a prominent vintage aesthetic.
Across the all-leather upper sits a graphic depicting an old-style map you’d likely find in centuries past as the colors appear desaturated and aged while also coming with beautiful artwork of landscapes. As for the construction, the typical “tongueless” design is present as are the usual branding details and overlays. Breaking up the map design is the tan-shaded laces grey sockliner, and the medial profile’s navy-colored Asics logo while the insole comes with a black-and-white map design similar to what you find on the upper. Back on the heel, Asics embroidery sits just above a compass logo. Rounding out the design is the vintage Gel cushioned midsole paired with a tri-toned navy, green, and tan rubber outsole.
The atmos x Asics Gel-Lyte III Aged Map is set to release in December 2022 through atmos and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at 19,250 yen (approx $140 USD).
