Asics continues to dominate the sneaker market, particularly with its resurgence in the mesh runner category. Models like the Gel-Kayano 14, Gel-1130, and Gel-Nimbus 10 have become staples among sneakerheads and fashion-forward individuals. Expanding beyond mesh runners, Asics is set to revive an indoor handball classic from 1993, the Asics Skyhand OG. This revival follows a successful collaboration with Hay and aims to bring a nostalgic yet refreshed look to the sneaker community.

The Asics Skyhand OG features a retooled design combining modern technology and the sneaker's original aesthetic. The sole unit now includes EVA cushioning in the heel and Flytefoam in the forefoot, providing enhanced comfort and support while maintaining the classic look. The sneaker's upper is adorned with suede panels, complemented by leather details on the contrasting Asics tiger stripes across the midfoot. This blend of materials offers a premium feel and adds to the sneaker's overall durability.

Additional details include the Asics logo prominently displayed atop the tongue and Skyhand embroidery on the lateral heel, adding a touch of heritage to the design. The sneaker also boasts a gum rubber midsole with an updated cushioning setup and a gum outsole for improved traction and durability. This combination of features ensures that the Skyhand OG is stylish and functional for everyday wear.

The Asics Skyhand OG Cilantro Grapefruit and Midnight Plum Koi will release on July 3, 2024, through Asics and select retailers online and in-store.
