Asics' Gel-Lyte III stands tall in athletic footwear, with its rich history dating back to 1991. This model has seen general releases and thematic ones, making it a favorite for sneakerheads and casual wearers alike. October, a month often associated with superstitions, especially around Friday the 13th, plays muse to the latest iteration: the Gel-Lyte III Superstition.
The new rendition of the Gel-Lyte III immerses itself in a dark, mysterious palette. In varying shades, grey dominates, giving depth to the perforated suede base, the rough-textured shaggy suede overlays, and the smoother suede adoring the collar, signature split tongue, and heel. A striking neon green outlines the iconic Asics tiger stripes on the medial side, providing a pop of color that extends to the heel tab and mudguard windows. The frayed laces amplify the eerie vibe. An intriguing detail emerges with the Roman numeral "XIII," representing the number 13, embellished on the lateral side of the split tongue. This all sits atop a dual-tone white and grey Gel-cushioned midsole, completed by a sleek black rubber outsole, cementing its thematic essence.
The Asics Gel-Lyte III Superstition will release this Friday the 13th, (October 13, 2023) through Asics and select retailers online and in-store.
