The Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 is Finally Releasing in GR Colorways

Brands like Asics have dominated the mesh runner trend. We have seen the Japanese label delve into its archives and remix its silhouettes to combine the best of multiple sneakers. While the Gel-Nimbus 10.1, which combines the upper of the Gel-Nimbus 10 and a Gel-Kayano 14-inspired sole unit, has become a mainstay in Asics’ release calendar, another hybrid silo, the Gel-Kayano 12.1 has been reserved for Kith collaborations. Following the launch of the Kith x Asics Vintage Tech collection, which included two more Kith Gel-Kayano 12.1s, images of GR colors of the model have appeared.

The Kayano 12.1 combines the upper of the Gel-Kayano 12 with the tooling setup from the Gel-Nimbus 17. Initially released in 2006 and 2015, the two models had been out of circulation for years until Ronnie Fieg and Kith helped bring them back last summer through this new hybrid design. Following the original two-pack of Kith Kayano 12.1s, another pair dropped alongside a Gel-Nimbus 10.1 in October.

Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 Metallic Silver Green

As for the six GR colorways pictured here, all feature the same open-spaced mesh construction with metallic silver overlays, contrasting hits of color, and a foam and a Gel-cushioned sole unit. One pair opts for a black and silver finish, though most feature cream and silver hues accented by a primary shade on the tiger stripes.

The Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 will release in GR colorways later this year through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price has yet to be confirmed, but Kith pairs have retailed for $180 and $195, so expect the GR pairs to come in at a slightly lower retail price.
