A$AP Rocky Named Creative Director of Puma's F1 Partnership

Published

The fusion of streetwear, fashion, and motorsports has found a new beacon. Earlier this year, Puma took a bold step by becoming the exclusive licensee and trackside retailer for all Formula 1 races. Doubling down on this venture, Puma has now named A$AP Rocky the Creative Director of its F1 partnership, a move poised to intertwine high fashion and high speed further.

Fashion lovers and F1 enthusiasts know Puma’s deep roots within the sport. Their aim, however, isn’t just to uphold tradition. Puma is keen on probing the intersection between streetwear and the racetrack, and who better to lead this exploration than the fashion-forward icon, A$AP Rocky? With Rocky's adeptness in style and culture, he's positioned to offer a fresh vantage point to the ever-expanding F1 audience.

Dubbed “in the lab,” A$AP Rocky’s initial influence will be akin to an incubator-style approach, delving deep into creative avenues for the brand. Fans can anticipate Rocky’s touch on Puma's visuals and video content for the year. Notably, his debut campaign, where he wears the hats of both a creative director and producer, will delve into America's car culture and its symbiotic relationship with streetwear.

Fashion and motorsport enthusiasts are in for a treat, as a limited-edition Puma x F1 collection curated by Rocky is slated for release later this year. This compelling collection is merely a precursor to a broader array of capsule collections set to rev up in 2024, centered around high-profile F1 races.

2024 will also witness A$AP Rocky diving deep into the creative processes for several Grand Prix races, starting with Miami. Collaborating closely with the Puma and F1 teams, Rocky is set to design and conceptualize collections, steer marketing campaigns, and curate immersive activations at the races.

By 2025, Rocky’s vision will be deeply embedded in the Puma x F1 product range – from racewear to fanwear and high-fashion pieces. His creative endeavors and innovative marketing strategies are geared toward reframing the narrative of motorsport fashion.

A$AP Rocky commented on this exciting partnership: "Working with brands as iconic as Puma, and as innovative as F1, has been truly inspiring. When the world sees what were doing, I believe a shift will happen with how brand’s approach taking risks and working with diverse creatives.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to be working with A$AP Rocky,” said Maria Valdes, Puma’s Chief Product Officer. “He’s incredibly talented, deeply thoughtful and invested in our brand. He will showcase his vision with elevated F1 race capsules globally which attract new audiences and undoutably disrupt the track. In the future, he will influence the broader Puma x F1 range and will continue to help push sport and culture forward.”
