Anthony Edwards was off to a hot start this season, dropping 41 points and 31 points in his first two games before suffering a hamstring injury. Thankfully it's minor, and he’ll only miss two weeks of action. This year, he’s finally lacing up his second signature sneaker with adidas, the AE 2, which launched with lukewarm reception compared to the original AE 1. While we have quite a few AE 2 colorways headed our way in the next 6 months, there’s also another Anthony Edwards adidas sneaker on the horizon. No, not his Superstar collab, but a takedown performance basketball sneaker.

Sole Retriever first reported on the adidas Believe That 1 in January, but we’ve now acquired exclusive images of the takedown sneaker. The silhouette comes in low-top form, akin to the AE 1 Low, with the upper falling more in line with the original silhouette than the sequel. Where the AE 2 completely redoes the upper, adding a textile mesh in place of the honeycomb Generative Support Wing, the Believe That 1 uses a similar louvre support system to the AE 2 as its midfoot overlay.

Even with the element borrowed from the second model, it's still more in line with the first. The fang-shaped toebox, pull tab on the heel, and heel counter all appear similar to the OG AE 1. As for tech, the model will feature a midfoot shank for responsiveness on the court, rubber herringbone grooves for traction, and full-length Dreamstrike EVA foam for comfort.

Takedown models are quite common across the footwear industry, with almost every major signature athlete having a cheaper, more accessible version of their performance sneaker on the market. Some examples include LeBron James’ NXXT Gen and Witness lines and Luka Doncic’s Luka .77.

Anthony Edwards’ adidas Believe That 1 will debut in June 2026, with multiple colorways planned to be released in the months that follow. Retail is set at $100 for men’s sizing.
