Salomon’s rise in the “hype” world coincides with the recent gorpcore trend taking over the fashion scene as well as many looking to step outside of the norm in terms of footwear choices. Cashing in on this newfound success, we’ve seen the French-based outdoor label team up with a variety of designers and brands across the globe including Japanese-based fashion label and wander. Previously collaborating on the Salomon XT-Slate, the two are back once again to tackle an outdoor-ready model - this time on the Jungle Ultra Low.
Featuring a mixture of suede, nubuck, rubber, and canvas across its upper, there are plenty of technical details within the silhouette that makes it more than just a fashion statement. Salomon’s Lycra material on the upper provides a stretchy, yet secure and comfortable fit while its SensiFit design cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system. Other details, like the gusseted tongue which connects to both sides of the upper, prevent debris from entering the shoe and keep it centered. As for the color scheme utilized by and wander and Salomon, various shades of grey appear throughout the design with a gradient-like effect present as dark shades transition to lighter ones as you work toward the tongue and collar portions. For branding, we see co-branded logos between Salomon and the Japanese-based and wander on the tongue while Salomon and Jungle branding appears near the heel. Underfoot sits Salomon’s iconic Advanced Chassis System and its All Terrain Contragrip outsole to provide a durable, yet comfortable ride through various surfaces.
