Before A’ja, Stewie, Sabrina, Angel, and Caitlin made their mark on the sneaker game, Jordan Brand was celebrating the women’s game. Even now, Jordan supports women on and off the court with exclusive lifestyle sneakers like the sparkling Swarovski x Air Jordan 1 to kicks made for performance on the hardwood like the Jordan Heir Series 2.
As the Jordan Heir Series 2 prepares to, hopefully, grace the WNBA courts, Jumpman is celebrating the legacy of women’s hoops with the return of their first women’s basketball shoe. Originally released in 1998, just after the launch of the WNBA, the Air Jordan OG (W) is the predecessor of the growing lineup of basketball shoes crafted for women hoopers.
Though colorways of the legendary silhouette have been few and far between, designer Melody Ehsani dropped a cherry-laced remix of the shoe with a Love & Basketball-themed campaign in 2020 during the model's first-ever retro run. Now, Jordan is dipping back into the vault and bringing back the Metallic Silver colorway last seen in 2021 with some small updates.
The Air Jordan OG (W) draws inspiration from the Air Jordan 13, mimicking the dimpled paneling of MJ’s penultimate championship sneaker. This upcoming colorway combines that with a clean white leather base and matching wavy side panels. A streak of silver running through the otherwise stark white base adds a level of shine to the look.
The Jumpman logo subtly appears throughout the silhouette, popping up on the tongue, lateral midsole, and heel where it’s joined by a stylized W underneath. An equally metallic midsole wraps up the look. Additionally, the sneakers come accessorized with a matching keychain depicting the shining silhouette.
