Pretty much every silhouette in the Air Jordan lineup has had its story revealed and retold for decades now except for one - the AJKO 1. This mysterious sneaker was originally released alongside the AJ 1 back in 1985 with its story forever shrouded, although rumors and theories that it was created as a “Knockoff” (hence the KO naming scheme) version of the Air Jordan 1. After years of on-and-off retros, Jordan Brand reintroduced the sneaker in 2022 with a series of colorways and it seems 2023 will continue this as a brand new “Bleached Aqua” rendition has just appeared.
Taking on the classic canvas construction the sneaker is known for, the general shape of the AJ 1 High remains while panels do come cut differently throughout. Canvas along the mudguard and eyestays get dressed in bleached aqua while white canvas accents this on the toebox, quarter panel, heel, and collar. A sail-shaded nylon tongue pierces through the white lace set that weaves in and out of the plastic bleached aqua eyelets. Branding details also keep true to the OG as the bleached aqua leather Swoosh and white “AJKO” wings logo on the midfoot and collar are constructed of leather. Underfoot, a white rubber midsole comes paired with a bleached aqua rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 AJKO 1 High Bleached Aqua will release on May 25, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
