The passing of time doesn’t seem real until you realize the star athletes you have been so accustomed to seeing are no longer at the level of play they once were. It’s a bit of a harsh wake-up call when you see that players like Chris Paul are out of the league, and in CP3's case, didn’t get the proper send-off a player of his caliber deserved. Still, we can always go back and reminisce on the days of Lob City, but for Jordan Brand, Paul’s days as a New Orleans Hornet are something that inspires the latest Air Jordan 8 colorway.
Air Jordan 8 Retro Hornets Details
Paul was given a wide range of player-exclusive sneakers across his career, something we looked back on when he announced his retirement last November, but we left off an obscure Air Jordan 8 PE from his time on the Hornets. That specific pair will serve as the inspiration for the Air Jordan 8 Retro Hornets.
The pair features a black nubuck upper, with that dark hue covering most of the sneaker. Pops of Hornets yellow and teal make their mark on the chenille tongue patch, the pull tab on the heel, and the painted TPU panel on the lateral heel. However, unlike the player-exclusive version Paul was gifted, the retail version will not feature CP3 branding on the collar.
Traditional Jordan branding details are found throughout, including the aforementioned tongue patch and the “Air Jordan” text embossed on the collar strap. Finishing the sneaker is a teal and black midsole paired with a black and yellow outsole.
