The 2000s are back. Pants are bigger than ever, people are wearing wallet chains, and patent leather is reaching new peaks. We’ve really stepped into a time machine back into 2006. Adding to that throwback feel is the return of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Black University Blue after two decades.
The University Blue 5 joins a growing collection of mid-2000s Jordans seeing a resurgence in modern times, like the returning Air Jordan 4 Tour Yellow coming later this year. Ahead of its return later this month, official images of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Black University Blue have arrived.

Air Jordan 5 Retro Black University Blue Details
The model stays true to its 2006 release, keeping the black suede upper and contrasting light blue stitching intact. That same light blue makes an appearance on the sockliner and the backside of the reflective 3M tongue. The model’s iconic shark-tooth motif on the midsole retains a metallic look to tie in with the reflective tongue. Used sparingly throughout, the blue serves as a perfect compliment, highlighting the shape of the sneaker and its plethora of visual elements. The Jumpman logo appears embroidered on the heel in the iconic hue of his alma mater. That shade of blue perfectly pairs with the silhouette’s signature icy translucent outsole that ties the look together.
