The famed Dongdang basketball tournament in Beijing is getting honored through an Air Jordan 5 Low.
Jordan Brand has continued to show its love to Greater China as on top of last years 25th Anniversary of doing business in the region we have seen various Air Jordan models come with co-branded logos for the Dongdan basketball tournament. Taking place in Beijing every year, 2022 saw the event get its own Air Jordan 37 exclusive to China, however, in 2023 the world will have a shot at both an Air Jordan 37 Low and an Air Jordan 5 Retro Low GC.
Coming eerily similar to the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Phantom” with its black nubuck upper contrasted by white stitching details, the AJ 5 Low keeps its usual details, like the semi-translucent TPU side cage, while featuring branding details nodding to the Dongdan basketball tournament. Other portions of the silhouette remain unchanged, like the TPU eyelets, tongue, and 3M hits surrounding the Jumpman on the tongue while we see the aforementioned Dongdan logo present on the heel in white. Custom insoles also add an elevated look to this pair with a sunset-like skyline featuring clouds coming printed on the insert next to Jumpman branding. Adding some contrast to the model we see the lacelock and tongue lining take on pink and purple hues respectively while the design comes rounded out by a black AJ 5 midsole with pink shark teeth near the forefoot paired with a black and semi-translucent purple rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro Low GC Dongdan is set to release Summer 2023 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
