What’s Up With This Air Jordan 4 SB Sea Crystal Sample?

Sometimes a shoe shows up that stops everyone in their tracks, and this time, it comes with SB hits on the heel. Long before the Air Jordan 4 SB hit retail in its debut pine green colorway or follow-up blue, the cross-brand collab was apparently a glimmer in the eye of Nike SB godfather Sandy Boedecker.

A Mysterious Sea Crystal

Posted on social media over the weekend, an icy blue Air Jordan 4 with an SB hit on the back and a sample tag immediately caught the eye of Sneaker Twitter and the Instagram reposters. As soon as it showed up on time, the imposter accusations started, with so many people calling the colorway out as fake that the original post was deleted.

And then Phil, or whoever runs the Twitter account at Cincinnati skate boutique Unheardof, chimed in. Claiming that the colorway was made for the late, great SB head honcho Sandy Boedecker, the pair was a precursor to the SB Jordan 4 designed to replicate Boedecker’s favorite Nike SB Dunk High colorway, the Sea Crystal from 2004.
