Comic books are back in their niche fandom. Hollywood had a decade-long run of turning every comic book under the sun into a major film franchise, but after one too many Ant Man movies, the public got a little sick of the formula, and comics have gone back into the background. Now, the comic book shop is back to being a place for real heads to congregate away from the washed masses.
This City Needs a New Hero
At Jordan Brand, though, comics still have some cultural staying power, and the latest Air Jordan 4 Retro colorway pays tribute to the Technicolor vibes and jagged speech bubbles from your favorite pages. After getting a preview of the pair last month, Jordan is ready to drop the pair before the month is over, and now, we’ve got a full set of retailer images to show off the bubble letter gradient energy.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro Comic features a white leather base, but adds pops of mixed-up color at every point possible. Starting with bubble gum pink on the front part of the midsole, a mix of yellow, orange, and pink gradient sits behind the vamp and side panels. On the heel, the same gradient color combo turns the Nike Air logo into a comic book title card, with speech bubble spikes added to the top lace wing.
