Many Jordan Brand athletes and signees have been gifted their own PE colorways on iconic Air Jordan models, Russell Westbrook included. Fortunate enough to get his own signature series of sneakers (the Jordan Why Not), Jordan Brand gifted the scoring machine and former MVP of the NBA a PE colorway of the Air Jordan 3 that honored his historic run of triple-doubles back in 2018.
Westbrook broke the record for most triple-doubles recorded in a single season and becoming the first player to average a triple-double throughout two seasons. In celebration of this achievement, Jordan Brand created the Air Jordan 3 Retro Russell Westbrook “Triple Double” PE that features plenty of unique details throughout. Across the upper sits the model’s usual combo of tumbled and smooth leather, perforated leather, and elephant print. For the latter of these details, an orange tint is applied, and gets spotted on the mudguard, heel, and eyestays. Blue hits take over the TPU eyelets and heel. Atop the tongue, Russell Westbrook’s logo replaces the usual Jumpman branding and gets covered in an orange/blue 3D design. This same orange hue lands on the lining of the tongue, while the Jumpman logo on the back heel tab is seen in black.
Underfoot, the AJ 3 midsole comes in a sail hue with blue and orange hits. Other details include the “Why Not” branding on the lateral side of the sole and averages from Westbrook’s 2017-2018 NBA season (25.4 points, 10.3 assists, and 10.1 rebounds) on the smooth leather mudguard. Rounding out the look is the semi-translucent rubber outsole with hits of blue and orange on the forefoot and heel.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro Russell Westbrook Triple Double PE will remain exclusive to Westbrook and not see a retail release.
