Air Jordan 2 Gets Louisville Slugger Treatment for MLB Exclusive Colorway

Michael Jordan’s history with baseball is long and complicated. The GOAT on the hardwood famously took a mid-career retirement break to strap on cleats and play minor league ball for the Birmingham Barons (you remember the beginning of Space Jam, right?). Jordan never made it to The Show, but his baseball legacy still lives on through his brand’s continued sponsorship of athletes in the MLB. It’s not uncommon for them to get exclusive sneakers, both on and off the diamond, with photos now emerging of a new Air Jordan 2 PE made for Jordan Brand athletes.

Paying homage to Louisville Slugger, America’s most prolific baseball bat maker, he cream, black, and red colorway of the Louisville Slugger 2s features a woodgrain print on the side panels. Cream suede wraps around the toe and ankle collar, while black suede covers the rest of the upper. Baseball stitching is featured throughout, with red hits bordering the woodgrain panel, heel counter, and lace protectors.
The Louisville Slugger details continue to the heel, with an embroidered 1884 label on the left shoe and a 1894 label on the right representing the years the bat company was founded and trademarked, respectively. An ankle tag adds Louisville, KY branding, and the tongue of each shoe gets a custom leather Jordan Brand label stamped with “23-K His Heirness & Co.”
Info surrounding this Air Jordan 2 PE is scarce, but it’s likely the pair was made for Jordan Brand athletes in The Show. The label hosts some of the league’s top talent, like Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, and Manny Machado.
