With a wide global reach, Jordan Brand has made an impact in just about every country on planet earth. Even if the popularity of Air Jordan sneakers overseas isn’t as high as it is in the US, the subdivision of Nike stills finds time to honor places throughout the globe. Just look at the colorways created that honor Greater China, specifically made to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Jordan Brand doing business in the country. Already seen on the Jordan Zion 2 and the AJ 12 Low, the latest sneaker to join on the trend is the upcoming Air Jordan 12 Retro GC “Greater China.”
Similar in colorblocking to the infamous “Taxi” colorway, the upper comes with its usual snakeskin leather overlay and tumbled leather base. On the former of these two panels, an all-black hue is present with the quilted-like tumbled leather coming in all-white. This same white hue continues onto the tongue and lace set with accenting black hits coming via the top two eyestays, the “T W O 3” embroidery, and the Jumpman atop the red tongue tag. Working back to the heel, a yellow nylon pull tab hosts its usual Jordan branding details on the left sneaker while the right honors Jordan Brand’s 25 years in China. On the insole, graphics showing the design process of this colorway are stamped atop the foam insert. Underfoot, the majority of the sole unit comes in a taxi yellow with a white hit present on the heel. Finishing the design is the rubber outsole with a black/yellow carbon fiber shank visible on the forefoot and red traction pods found near the toe and heel.
The Air Jordan 12 Retro GC Greater China is set to release this Holiday 2022 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
