The Stock Market of Things has announced that December 11th's release of the Air Jordan 11 Retro "Cool Grey" has a new title. Sneaker of the year?
While that has yet to be announced, StockX has stated that this years holiday AJ 11 is now their biggest sneaker release of all time. 48 hours after its 10am EST release, the Jordan 11 Cool Grey had traded on the platform over 35,000 times! To put this in perspective, that is 2X more than the previous record holder, the 2020 release of the Air Jordan 11 Retro "Jubilee." As of this writing (December 15, 2021), the Jordan 11 Cool Grey mens has traded over 57,000 times for an average sale price of $324. Assuming a 9.5% take rate, StockX has collected $1,754,460 in seller fees on a single SKU!
Popularity, scarcity, hype and quantity all played a factor in the instant sell out of the Air Jordan 11 Retro "Cool Grey." This left secondary players like StockX the next best option to find these hard-to-find kicks. Rumored to have made around 1 million pairs, Jordan's shock drops, multiple rounds of early access, and SNKRS PASSES played their parts in the release, making more pairs available earlier to the public.
