Originally released on March 3rd, 2001, the Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” was the first new colorway of Michael Jordan’s eleventh signature sneaker since it’s original 1995-96 run. While some may call the “Space Jam’s” a new color, MJ did rock them back in the day as a PE. Upon its release the Cool Grey AJ 11 became an instant classic and has become one of the most popular colorways of all-time.
The sneaker featured a light grey suede upper with dark grey patent leather, white branding, midsole and laces and a full translucent outsole. For Holiday 2010, the Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” was re-released. It remained true to its predecessor with the only major difference coming in quality and shape which changed through the years. In addition, the December 23rd, 2010 drop also came in special packaging with a pull-out box, carbon fiber printed tissue paper and grey plastic shoe trees.
As we gear up for this iconic AJ 11’s third release (not counting 2018’s low-top drop), these “Cool Grey’s” get a little bit of a makeover. While they stay true to the OG as far as colorway and materials go, this time around they feature a higher-cut patent leather, a nod back to the original Air Jordan XI’s from the mid-90s. An added icy blue tinted translucent outsole is also prominent, which should help with slowing down the yellow process that is destined to happen on this pair due to normal wear and tear.
The Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” is set to release on December 11th, 2021. A general release, they will be available in full-family sizing, from men's down to crib. Retail is set at $225 for men’s sizing, which come in all-new special packaging. Keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on this release as it gets closer.
