In the 1990s, before the internet, cell phones, and the constant scroll of short-form videos, the entire pop culture universe had a shared set of reference points: TV, sports, radio, and going to the movies. For the entirety of the mid-90s, if you turned on Fox on Thursday nights, you were going to see Martin, and you were going to laugh.

Named after its titular character, a fictionalized version of comedian Martin Lawrence, the show was such a cultural touchstone that Jordan Brand even toyed with a couple of colorways inspired by the show. The two pairs of Air Jordan 10s feature an all-over print inspired by the show’s intro theme, covering the entire upper of a black and grey pair and the internal structure of a Steel pair. If you remember, Chris Paul shared an image of the Steel colorway in 2018 alongside his Martin x Jordan CP3 XI, but this marks the first time the black version has appeared.

On both sample pairs, the wavy outsole detailing Jordan’s history-making moments is colored by the same red, yellow, teal, and purple color combo from the show’s theme and posters. The Steel selection is also a direct callback to a colorway that Martin wore on the show. The Fresh Prince wasn’t the only one getting fresh on prime time TV.

The Air Jordan 10 Martin samples won’t be hitting retail anytime soon, especially considering they’re nearly a decade old, but hey, they could always pop back up for an anniversary of the show or another special occasion…you never know.
