Jordan Brand is always looking to spice up its age-old silhouettes, like the Air Jordan 1, through collaborations or maybe just a change of materials. Both have been prevalent in the release calendar for 2022 as we’ve seen the likes of Travis Scott add his flair to the AJ 1 Low while releases like the AJ 1 Mid Wear Away featured a unique way to create your own colorway. While we’ve just received our best look yet at the newest Cactus Jack-branded colorway on the AJ 1 Low, we’ve got an official look at the latest wear-away variation, coming in “White Onyx.”
At first glance, the sneaker would appear to be one of the more simple takes on the model as the upper comes in a Panda-like black/white makeup across its leather construction, though there's more than meets the eye here. Once worn, the black overlays will slowly reveal a golden tan hue that should pair well with the gold Jumpman embroidery featured on the black tongue. Extra flair comes via the sockliner’s tie-dye finish, featuring shades of gold, purple, red, and black, though the insole opts for a simple gold/black finish. All of this is sandwiched between a white leather base that’s visible thanks to the perforated toebox and quarter panel with tonal white stitching. As for the rest of the branding details, both the Nike Swoosh and embroidered Wings logo get an all-black finish while the entire design is finished off with a cream midsole and black rubber outsole.
