Looking back to 1985, the introduction of the Air Jordan 1 changed everything we know in the sneaker world. Its entire history requires a much longer writeup (which we have covered previously in our Air Jordan 1 Buyers Guide), though it’s important to note that Jordan Brand has given the world various versions of the silhouette. Outside of different cuts for the silhouette, the AJ 1 has been covered in almost every material known to man. Some of the most rugged and durable coming to us with Gore-Tex across its upper - the Air Jordan 1 Element. Previously seen in colorways like “Black Particle Grey,” “Light Bone,” and “Curry,” a “Sky J Purple” colorway is joining the lineup.
Just like the upcoming “Sky J Light Olive” and “Berry” pairs, the “Sky J Purple” Air Jordan 1 Element features a significant material change compared to the OG Air Jordan 1. Ripstop nylon and Gore-Tex-covered suede take over the upper, with the toebox and collar portions in a honeycomb shade. The titular shade covers the suede mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlays, while a tan-colored ripstop nylon helps construct the midfoot and tongue region. A two-tone set of black/grey laces contrasts starkly with the earthy tones of the tongue. Final hits of branding details come in the form of the Jordan Wings logo on the collar, Nike Air on the tongue, and Gore-Tex text on the insole and lateral heel. Rounding out the design is the white AJ 1 midsole paired with a multi-color rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Element Sky J Purple will be released online and in-store on October 14th, 2023, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
