Earlier in the month, AFEW and Asics held a charity raffle for a one-of-one Asics Gel-Lyte III that helped raise almost $15,000 for a local children's hospital in Germany. The “Beauty In Imperfection” theme took Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy to the sneaker world, utilizing mismatching colors and a tear away upper. Now we have much better odds at securing a pair of AFEW’s latest collab with Asics, albeit in a different colorway than the one-of-one, with a release coming soon for the follow-up Gel-Lyte III “Beauty Of Imperfection.”
Across the majority of the perforated suede upper, a “Polar Shade” takes over. Accenting tan mudguard and midfoot overlays are juxtaposed by the “Seagrass” shaded suede tiger stripes on the lateral side while the medial uses purple stitching. Wrapping back to the heel, purple overtakes the overlay with Gel-Lyte III branding stamped on the lateral side and AFEW on the medial. Once you land on the heel you’ll notice dual branding between Asics and AFEW, alongside Japanese characters, with over stitching separating the suede and canvas overlays. Rounding out the look is the standard Gel-Lyte III cushioning system encapsulated by a vintage dressed midsole and gum rubber outsole.
The AFEW x Asics Gel-Lyte III Beauty Of Imperfection is set to release on February 26th, 2022exclusively via raffle through afew-store.com. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
