adidas' Superstar Vintage Woven Pack Borrows a Move From High Fashion
The Superstar is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest sneakers ever made. First released in 1969, it was the first low-top basketball shoe to feature an all-leather upper, marketed as offering even more support than Converse’s canvas kicks. The silhouette quickly caught the attention of NCAA and NBA players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and George Gervin, and by 1973, it was reportedly worn by more than 75% of all NBA athletes. While it originally dominated the hardwood, the upcoming adidas Superstar Vintage Woven Pack W looks set to make its mark on the runways of fashion week.
Revealed in Black and Cream White colorways, the Woven Pack might look like a typical Superstar collection from afar – and we mean that in the best way possible. But up close, the uppers showcase a woven construction that feels like a nod to Bottega Veneta, the cult Italian label now helmed by Louise Trotter.
Since the ’60s, the Milanese house has been renowned for its intrecciato weave – a handwoven leather technique that creates a signature cross-hatch texture, instantly synonymous with luxury craftsmanship. From suitcases to handbags and even iPhone cases, its most coveted pieces have all featured this design. While the woven pattern on these Superstars is slightly reinterpreted, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine Bottega Veneta sitting on the original moodboard.
Elsewhere, adidas logos are printed in blue on the insoles, and both pairs are finished with grippy gum rubber outsoles, adding a subtle pop of contrast that’s bound to turn heads.
The adidas Superstar Vintage Woven Pack W will release in October 2025 via adidas and select retailers, both online and in-store, for $120. Both pairs will drop in women’s sizing.
