Every footwear brand on the market has attempted to crack into the mule/slip-on craze that has been fueled by the likes of the Yeezy Foam RNNR and Salehe Bembury's Crocs Pollex Clogs. While some have gone above and beyond with brand new designs, including adidas and their adiFOM Q, The Three Stripes is looking to a classic silhouette to join the trend. That is where the adidas Stan Smith Mule steps in, appearing in a vegan makeup titled “Plant and Grow.”
With inspirations from nature and guerrilla gardening, the slip-on silhouette is covered in a shade reminiscent of dirt, accented by grassy greens on the sockliner and insole. Even with its slight redesign, the typical Stan Smith details remain as the midfoot gets its Three Stripes branding via perforations that are surrounded by various stitching details. Though the sneaker gets laced up with a two-tone brown lace set, two additional lace sets allow you to customize this earthy look. Atop the tongue, the man himself, Stan Smith, makes an appearance with his portrait, alongside adidas branding, coming stamped on the vegan leather. On the insole, bubble font “Plant and Grow” text is visible in an accenting shade of black. Underfoot, a speckled brown rubber midsole and outsole mimic the texture of soil.
The adidas Stan Smith Mule Plant and Grow, while already released in select countries, will see a wider release on August 20th through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at approximately $100.
