The adidas SL 72 RS is undoubtedly an astute option for comfort and style. After the rebrand at adidas Originals last year, it was revealed specific models would receive a modern update, the highlight being the beloved adidas SL 72. For over five decades, the sneaker has been a consumer favorite. It was initially created for Olympic athletes to wear in between events at the 1972 Games in Munich.
The first commercially available shoe that featured the Trefoil logo, there is one overriding fact that anyone who has worn a pair could attest to. They're narrow and not ideal for wearing over more extended periods. Enter the present-day adidas team; an improved midsole and a reshaping of the upper give the silhouette a slight tweak on aesthetics but a tremendous amount of comfort for the wearer. Hence the adidas SL 72 RS, with the RS being for Re-Sized. Both the SL 72 OG and the SL 72 RS have received renewed vigour from the adidas marketing team in 2024, with many colourways available.
The adidas SL 72 RS Light Blue Dark Blue arrives in a soothing color palette that will grab attention. The light blue upper comprises nylon underlays paired with suede overlays. The Three Stripes branding on the sides, back heel tab, and dimpled tongue contrast nicely in dark blue leather. Better Scarlet comes into play via the tongue tag and re-sized midsole stripe. Retro-inspired gold foil branding on the lateral panel carries the SL 72 moniker. An EVA cushioned midsole sits atop a creamy, off-white rubber sole to finish off the design.
The adidas SL 72 RS Light Blue Dark Blue is set to release on September 1, 2024, through adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $100.
