adidas' archives run deep, with the German sportswear giant hosting an extensive range of running silhouettes that date back decades. While the Samba is still all the rage, adidas has begun to ramp up production on another retro sneaker, the adidas SL 72, a "super light" racer from the '70s. For March 2024, the brand has plans to launch six new colorways, three in women's sizing and the other three in men's sizing.
The upcoming March 2024 collection will feature an even split between men's and women's sizing, ensuring something for everyone. Men can look forward to the Blue Core White, Green Yellow, and Utility Yellow Bright Royal variations. These pairs will blend heritage aesthetics with vibrant, eye-popping colors that pay homage to the era of the shoe's inception. Women's offerings will include the Night Indigo Semi Green Spark, Maroon Almost Yellow, and Collegiate Green Pink colorways, presenting a mix of deep hues and pastel accents that align perfectly with the spring season.
Constructed with the signature lightweight mesh base and premium suede panels on strategic areas like the toe, vamp, and heel, each SL 72 in this collection maintains the model's original appeal. Leather Three Stripes add a touch of sophistication, while gold-stamped SL 72 branding on the lateral side of the men's pair nods to the sneaker's rich history. Below, an EVA-cushioned foam midsole provides solid comfort, and the grooved rubber outsole ensures durability and traction.
The adidas SL 72 March 2024 Collection will release on March 28, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s and women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
