When it comes to outdoor or trail-ready designs in the sportswear industry, many would immediately think of Nike ACG and its storied history. Often overlooked in this regard, their rivals in Germany, adidas, have a long history of offering silhouettes you could take adventures in. Models that fall under the Terrex line proffer a mix between form, function, and sustainability, with the latest adidas Originals silhouette set to match these same criteria. Spotted in its Mule variant a few months back, the adidas Roverend Adventure has just appeared in “Crystal White Aluminum.”
Taking archival designs and merging them with modern-day innovations, the Roverend Adventure comes constructed with a mixture of leather, mesh, and nylon with a TPU exoskeleton helping the sneaker keep its structure. Wrapping from the midfoot up towards the toe is an aluminum-shaded leather overlay, passing underneath the nylon Three Stripes branding details while the base layer found on the toe and tongue comes in a grey sandwich mesh. Aiding the outdoor-ready design is a set of toggle laces that connect to the aforementioned TPU exoskeleton. Back along the heel, “Adventure” branding is plastered atop the cage while the heel and sockliner get a blue and mauve makeover respectively. Underfoot is where things get interesting. Appearing very similar to the controversial Adilette 22, the sole unit comes 3D-printed in a topographic-inspired design while taking on a mixture of mauve, crystal white, and aluminum shades. Rounding out the design is the trail-ready rugged rubber outsole that comes in a similarly constructed topographic-like pattern.
The adidas Roverend Adventure Crystal White Aluminum is set to release on October 13th, 2022 through adidas Confirmed and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
