Of all the signature sneakers from NBA players, James Harden’s recent models have all been headturners. You either love or hate the futuristic, organic-based design language, and this isn’t changing anytime soon with the new Harden Vol. 9. After getting looks at the Cloud White Core Black and Cyber Metallic renditions, Sole Retriever can reveal that the Harden Vol. 9 will be getting the iconic black/red makeover with the Red Metallic colorway.
For its base, we see a black mesh bootie with an improved fit for more comfort, while the synthetic material that covers most of the upper comes in a metallic red finish. This look is present from the perforated toe box back to the heel, which comes with a faux carbon fiber heel counter akin to the AE 1. The midfoot also features ventilation cutouts in a wavy Three Stripe pattern, which acts as branding for adidas and provides extra breathability.

Black nylon pull tabs are located on the front and back of the collar, and the one on the heel features Harden’s logo. Underfoot, the silhouette comes with LIGHTBOOST and LIGHTSTRIKE cushioning, a Y-shaped torsion plate, and a modified herringbone traction pattern in red, black, and blue.
The adidas Harden Vol. 9 Red Metallic was initially set to release on July 9, 2025. This date has been pushed up, with Dick's Sporting Goods dropping them on June 6. A worldwide release on June 21 will follow through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
