Originally made in collaboration with hibachi chain Benihana and limited to 1000 pairs, the 2022 re-release has no ties to the restaurant. Instead, the shoe has hibachi written on the medial side of the heel and will not be as limited as they were back in 2008. Staying true to the OG, the same hibachi inspiration is there. The sneaker features an all-over red leather upper broken up by a black leather under panel with a checkerboard print, an ode to the checkerboard pants worn by chefs. Overlaying the upper is a white midfoot strap. The white midsole features the Three Stripes logo in red on the heel, wrapping up from the outsole. Hibachi wording is found embroidered in black on the ankle, tying everything together.
The adidas Gil Zero Restomod Hibachi is set to release on January 27th, 2022. It will launch at adidas as well as select retailers in-store and online.
