The adidas Consortium Samba Collection Releases November 2023
Updated on •Publishedadidas Consortium remains at the forefront of sneaker innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries and engaging with its vast community. This engagement was fully displayed when adidas orchestrated the Consortium Cup earlier this year, an immersive contest where a staggering 16 retailers dabbled in the art of sneaker design. While Offspring clinched the top spot, the competition saw some stellar designs, especially those centered on the iconic adidas Samba. With the buzz still rife, the sneaker community is now gearing up for the release of the adidas Consortium Samba Collection, a curated assortment featuring designs from Consortium Cup participants Nice Kicks, Sneaker Politics, and Extra Butter.
A closer look at the designs reveals meticulous attention to detail and a desire to elevate the classic adidas Samba. For Nice Kicks' rendition, talc-hued tumbled leather engulfs the upper, offset by suede touches on the toe overlay and heel tab. The spotlight, however, is on the branding, where the standard Samba text makes way for a gold-foiled Nice Kicks emblem. The Consortium Cup hangtag adds a special touch, commemorating the design's origin. The most striking feature is the Three Stripes logo, artistically torn at the edges, lending a rugged charm. The co-branding between adidas and Nice Kicks is delicately spread out, appearing on the tongues and insoles. Completing the aesthetic is the classic gum rubber midsole and outsole.
For Extra Butter, the NY-based retailer brings sunshine to the forefront with the heel featuring an embroidered logo for the brand alongside a sun design. Yellow shades continue this theme onto the leather tongue, sockliner, and collar. Contrasting all of this is the blue-shaded suede on the toe, the cracked leather upper, and the over-stitched details on the Three Stripes. Everything comes complete with a dark gum rubber outsole.
Finally, Sneaker Politics retains the same design seen on their entry into the Consortium Cup. Nylon acts as the base with suede panels on the eyestays and toe. Branding for the retailer is found atop the tongue with its "P" logo in red while the sockliner features a leopard print graphic. A semi-translucent gum sole finishes the look.
The adidas Consortium Samba Collection will release November 22, 2023, through adidas Confirmed. The retail price is set at $130 for Nice Kicks' and Sneaker Politics' pair while Extra Butter's Samba will retail for $140.
