4D technology continues to be innovated over at The Three Stripes.
First introduced back in 2017, adidas’ 3D printed cushioning system dubbed “4D” has appeared on numerous performance and lifestyle models across the brand. While its initial release drummed up plenty of attention, lately it seems like the tech has fallen to the wayside in favor of more Boost-laden silhouettes like the NMD_S1, which was just spotted in Humanrace attire. Much like these upgraded Boost models, adidas’ new 4DFWD 2 is bumping up the amount of cushioning, featuring 23% more than past 4D silhouettes.
Taking on a similar shape to the original 4DFWD, this second iteration gets an all-new upper featuring Primeknit+ and engineered mesh in specific zones for a more supportive and snug fit. Spotted so far in four colorways, "Cloud White," "Carbon," "Beam Orange," and "Bliss Orange," the sleek design gets hits of branding details thanks to the fused plastic Three Stripes along the midfoot while the top of the tongue features the adidas Mountain logo. Underfoot the newly designed 4D midsole gets a 23% increase in size, compressing forward and reducing braking force for a smooth ride. Rounding out the design is the extra durable Continental rubber outsole, providing extra grip in all weather conditions from wet to dry.
The adidas 4DFWD 2 in the four aforementioned colorways are currently available to adiClub Level 3 and Level 4 members early while a public release is set for August 25th, 2022 through adidas and select retailers, though you’ll have to wait for the Bliss Orange W pair to release on September 1st. Coming in men’s and women’s sizing depending on the colorway, the retail price is set at $200.
