After a flood of information from federal indictments in a massive stolen sneaker scheme traced back to Nike’s Memphis warehouses, the latest wholesale sneaker thievery hit ships up to Boston for a chunk out of New Balance’s bottom line. In a new video posted to social media, Action Bronson informed the public that pairs of his New Balance 2811 in a White/Blue colorway are only hitting the secondary market because they were the ill-gotten gains of a robbery.
“If you got those sneakers,” Bronson says sternly to the camera, “you’re buying stolen product. There was an obvious heist; they’re obviously not sold by me, and definitely not verified or authenticated by me.” While the claims of thievery and forgery seem incongruous next to each other, we understand that Bronson is likely flustered by the heist - especially considering his heist movie-themed commercial for the sneaker’s debut.
This isn’t the first time a New Balance collab sneaker was stolen early ahead of its release and brought to the public’s attention by the collaborator.
