A Bathing Ape's AAPE sub-label is joining forces with Li-Ning for an exclusive reinterpretation of Dwayne Wade's signature basketball shoe, the Way of Wade 6. Initially launched in 2017, this retro version marks a significant revival, blending the streetwear appeal of AAPE with the athletic prowess of the Way of Wade line.
The Way of Wade 6 transforms for this special edition, adopting an all-black color scheme that exudes a sleek and understated elegance. The design is subtly accented with faint red highlights on the toe, adding a touch of vibrancy to the otherwise monochromatic palette. The sneaker is adorned with the distinctive AAPE Universe branding on its lockdown strap, seamlessly integrating the streetwear giant's identity into the design.
The AAPE logo enhances the aesthetic, debossed on the shoe's suede tongue for a tactile, luxurious finish. The collaboration pays equal homage to its basketball heritage, with the Way of Wade branding prominently featured on the medial side of the sole unit. The lateral side makes a bold statement with the iconic AAPE head logo, symbolizing the fusion of two powerhouse brands in the sneaker and streetwear realms.
The AAPE x Li-Ning Way Of Wade 6 Retro will release in December 2023 through Way of Wade and BAPE online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
