Oklahoma Freshman Star Aaliyah Chavez Breaks Out a Mexico-Themed Kobe 6 Protro PE

The women’s NCAA basketball tournament is in full swing, dancing into the Sweet Sixteen this week, and Aaliyah Chavez is finding her rhythm. The Oklahoma freshman star is leading the Sooner squad into the third round of the tournament, where they await the winner of tonight’s USC-South Carolina showdown. In anticipation of the next round, Chavez is tapping into a mix of her Mexican heritage and Kobe Bryant’s Mamba Mentality with a perfect PE.

The Aaliyah Chavez Nike Kobe 6 Protro Mexico PE is a multi-color mix of Mexico’s flag colors, adding a green gradient to the lateral side of the left shoe, a red gradient to the lateral side of the right shoe, and white on the medial side of both shoes for a flag theme that adds bright blue accents on the Swooshes to represent the colors on the crest in the middle of the Mexican flag.

“For the culture!” Chavez wrote in the caption of the photo showing off the new PE pair. Originally from Texas, Chavez has always been vocal about the importance of her Mexican heritage and family in her path to hoops stardom and a spot on the Nike NIL squad. In addition to the Mexico flag PE, Chavez debuted a Kobe 9 PE colorway based on The Lab, the Texas training facility and program run by her father.
