Legends in the streetwear game, A Bathing Ape has for nearly 20 years now produced the AF1-like BAPE STA silhouette with no issues - until now. Nike recently took A Bathing Ape to court to claim its BAPE STA design (alongside other models created by the brand) infringes on the trade dress owned by Nike, yet it seems like BAPE is continuing to release the model as the brand took to social media to announce an upcoming BAPE STA “Patent” Pack.
Coming in three white-based colorways with accenting shades of “Green,” “Blue,” and “Red,” the silhouette takes on a standard smooth leather construction throughout most of its upper while patent leather appears on panels near the eyestays and tongue. Each of these patent leather sections as well as the leather sockliner comes in the accenting shade for each respective sneaker while the infamous shooting star logo on the midfoot gets trimmed with this same shade. Back on the heel overlay, you’ll find a debossed APE logo with the heel tab containing BAPE STA branding in the secondary shade for each colorway with the design of the pack complete by a white-on-white BAPE-branded midsole and outsole.
The A Bathing Ape BAPE STA Patent Pack is set to release on March 3rd, 2023 through BAPE online with an in-store drop set for March 4th, 2023. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
