When contemporary artist Javier Mariscal officially revealed his mascot for the Barcelona Olympics back in 1992, it very quickly became a controversial figure in the sporting world. Named Cobi, the disagreement surrounding the Catalan sheepdog didn't stem from anything political or social, instead, it was deemed by the general population as way too simple and a little too weird. With that said, Cobi would end up being the most profitable mascot in the history of the Olympic games, starring in his own TV show, marketing products like Coca-Cola and Danone, and now, inspiring the upcoming 24 Kilates x Diadora V7000 "Friends For Life."
When it comes to collaborations with Diadora, 24 Kilates is certainly no stranger to them, having teamed up with the Italian sportswear brand on multiple occasions. For the V7000, the flax-hued upper works on top of a premium base which is crafted from three different types of leather, including napa, pigskin, and horse leather. A hairy finish features around the lacing system and sidewalls as a nod to Cobi, and "Amigos Para Siempre" is superimposed into the shape of the mascot's head, literally translating to "Friends For Life" which was one of the songs played during the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. This also nods to the relationship between 24 Kilates and Diadora which has grown stronger and stronger over the year.
