The storied Vans Half Cab has been a pivotal footwear icon for several skateboarders, creatives, and sneakerheads for decades. One such individual, Antonio Ciongoli, Founder and Creative Director of 18 East, found his love for the sneaker at the tender age of 11, thanks to this sneaker. The influence was so profound that it paved the way for his later successes, including establishing his brand, 18 East. Fast forward to today, and this adoration has culminated in an enthralling collaboration between 18 East and Vans on a recreation of the Half Cab that Ciongoli spotted at an early age.
Set to release in three colorways: Black Navy, Ecru Off-White, and Espresso Latte, the 18 East x Vans Half Cab Pack seamlessly blends an array of materials, namely suede, ripstop, and leather, enhancing its texture and depth. A unifying feature across all three pairs is the black tongue adorned with co-branded detailing, signifying the coming together of two beloved brands. The iconic Half Cab logo hasn't been overlooked; it proudly sits on a blue patch on the collar, ensuring the legacy continues. The uppers maintain a harmonious tonality with shades close in the spectrum, resulting in a refined and polished look. Further co-branding graces the insole, while a classic white vulcanized rubber midsole and a gum rubber outsole provide comfort and grip.
The 18 East x Vans Half Cab Pack will release October 19, 2023, exclusively through 18 East online and their brick-and-mortar storefront. As of now, pricing information has yet to be announced.
