Nike Air Max 97 Release Dates

Christian Tresser was the leading designer in 1997 for Nike’s annual Air Max silhouette, the Air Max ‘97. Tresser’s Air Max ‘97 was groundbreaking— the Air Max model featured the first ever full-length visible Air unit. The silhouette’s upper was inspired by water dripping in a pond causing ripples. Tresser was interested in the aluminum and titanium finishes of 90’s mountain bikes and incorporated bits and pieces into the “Silver Bullet” Air Max ‘97. Released in 1997, the Nike Air Max 97 was a revolution in both design and technology. The first Nike shoe to feature a full-length Air unit, the AM97 offered an unprecedented level of comfort and bounce. Its design was inspired by a high-speed Japanese bullet train, reflected in its sleek, flowing lines.

With its futuristic silhouette and unique colorways, including the famous "Silver Bullet," the Air Max 97 has become a symbol of '90s style and innovation. Collaborations like the Off-White x Nike Air Max 97 and the Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97 have only added to its legacy.

Today, the Air Max 97 is celebrated for its unique aesthetic and its role in advancing Nike's Air Max technology. Its enduring popularity shows the continued fascination with '90s style and Nike's commitment to innovative design.
