Air Jordan 14 Release Dates

Originally released in 1998, the Air Jordan 14 was the first signature sneaker for Michael Jordan that was released after his second retirement from the NBA. The silhouette, designed by Tinker Hatfield, draws heavy inspiration from the Ferrari 550M, which is one of MJ’s favorite cars.

In 1998 the Air Jordan 14 made its debut. It was seen on the feet of Michael Jordan during Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. A black and red pair, known as the “Last Shot,” captured what was originally thought to be MJ's final moment in the NBA. The sneaker would be released to the public later in the year, with the AJ 14 “Black Toe,” on October 31, 1998. On March 27, 1999, the now infamous Air Jordan 14 “Last Shot” dropped.

The Air Jordan 14 was initially released in five colorways: Black Toe, Cherry, Oxidized Green, Last Shot, and Indiglo. Three low-top iterations followed as well: Laney, Columbia, and Ginger. In 2000, a UNC-exclusive “Columbia” Air Jordan 14 would drop at Eastbay, marking the first time an Air Jordan PE made its way to retail. Jordan rocked the AJ 14 on-court in his final game with the Chicago Bulls en route to his second 3-Peat, and sixth NBA championship.

Since 2005, we have seen the Air Jordan 14 Retro in various OG and new colorways, which we still see today. Collaborators, including Aleali May, Supreme, and CLOT, have all been fortunate enough to design their own exclusive AJ 14. Some of them made it to retail, while others did not. Some new colorways have even ranked up there next to the OG’s, such as the Ferrari Red, Doernbecher, and Black Uni Blue. Almost thirty years later, the AJ 14 is still as iconic as ever.

Originally retailing for $150, the Air Jordan 14's retail price has increased through the years and now has a sticker price of $200 for men, $150 for GS, $90 for PS, and $75 for TD. Retail also increases depending on the colorway/release, occasionally up to $275. Find all the Jordan 14's past and present on Sole Retriever today!
